Wow what a fast, busy week!!!! I feel as though the week cruised by. I have recently been taking a Nurtured Heart Class and have been learning so much. Our class has been ending the day by sitting in a circle and talking about our greatness! Each child is full of greatness! He or she might have an awful day, but there was at least one thing he or she did that day that they could be proud of. We focus on being really specific, and having meaningful ideas. I challenge you to ask your child everyday what their greatness is for the day, and to tell them each night before bed something you noticed as their greatness!
***This week we have been hard at work, here are some of our highlights: Science- Good bye Third Graders and Hello Geologists!!! We have finally started to use our "picks" to break our individual mock rocks apart and learn about all the of different materials that make up a rock. Check us out in Action!! Math- Can you believe it, we are finishing up our first Math Unit. The students will have review on Monday and Test on Tuesday! We have learned so many things: number sequences, equivalent names, displaying and analzying data, findind differences, chance events, solving story problems with money, calculators, patterns, and so much more! But it was the elapsed time that through our class for a loop. It was by far our biggest challenge as a class, but our third graders never gave up!! They are such a determined group! Social Studies- Right now in Social Studies we are learning about COMMUNITIES! We have been talking about Urban-city communities, Suburban-communities near cities, and Rural-farming communities! The students are enjoying reading and watching videos showing characteristics of different types of communities! Reading- In reading we focused on a nonfiction text entitled: Schools Around the World. They had so much fun learning about different schools around the world ! As said by Matthew, " Miss Argall, I never knew that kids go on boats to go to schoool." The studnets were amazed by facts they found out. WE also learned the difference between common and proper nouns, and reviewed how to add -ing & -ed. Students, nice job on your high frequency words!!! I can tell you are really practicing at home! Writing- OH NO! We have problems, problems, problems! The students are working on storyboarding and drafting their personal narratives. A personal narrative is a story about yourself that has 3 paragraphs, characters, settings, problem, and a resolution. I love watching the students brains turn as they are thinking of how they felt with each problem! Plus, they are doing magnificent at them since they worked on these last year! Superstar of the week: Check out the superstar of the week HANNAH!!!! The class is getting to know each student in their classroom a little better. The students have also had the opportunity to tell the superstar of the week one great thing about them. So, if your child comes home with thier name on a piece of paper with tons of colorful words around it. Those are all compliments from each student in the class. So fun! Coming soon ... Abigail. **********Thank You!!! I just want to thank all of the parents I have this year. Your children are truely amazing and have made the year so fun! The students work hard and try hard at everything they do. It makes me so proud to watch them in action everyday! I got to share some news with them yesterday. I recently just got engaged and am in the process of moving houses! The class was excited and wanted to know if they could all come to the wedding. I had many offers for flower girls, ring bearers and much more! Haha! So, if you have hear them talking about something this is what it is. I am working hard on getting all the grades updated and will send out an email when you can check the latest powerschool. Thank you so much for your patience during my crazy schedule!!!! Last but not least, check out our moves as we take a brain break!! We have some great DANCERS!!!
