Can you believe it is almost the new year? Next week is Holiday Break and we have lots of fun things planned next week during school. Here are a few of the things to look forward to!
Holiday Dress Up days from student council: Monday December 19th: Wear Holiday Hats and Socks Tuesday December 20th: Wear Red and Green Wednesday December 21st: Wear you ugly sweater or T-shirt Day Thursday December 22nd: Wear your Pajamas! Students may also bring in blankets, pillows, and a stuffed animal for our Polar Express Pajama Party! For our Polar Express Unit we will be doing flashlight reading, your child is allowed to bring a flashlight to school and we will be reading in the dark with our flashlights on Wednesday December 21st. Also, if you happen to have The Polar Express book please send that with your child on Wednesday as well. We will also be having a Polar Express party with trail mix, treats, and Hot Chocolate that we will make when we watch the Movie on Thursday December 22nd. For our Polar Express Party we are in need of some items: · 3 Boxes Golden Grahams Cereal · 3 Bags Mini Marshmallows · 3 Bags Milk Chocolate Chips · 25 Candy Canes · 25 Cups with lids for Hot Chocolate · Crackers · Meat and Cheese · Fruit In previous years we have had students bring meat and cheese trays with crackers or people have brought cheese and meat that can be cut up. Same with the fruit it could be a fruit tray or fruit that needs to be washed and cut up. This is a great way for us to keep our party healthy with a little bit of a treat of the trail mix. Please reply back and let me know if your child is wanting to bring any of these items. This will help letting me know what needs to be purchased before our Polar Express Party on Thursday December 22nd. Dates to Remember: NO SCHOOL: December 23rd- January 2nd School Resumes: Tuesday January 3rd

We have been busy busy busy learning this past month. I can't believe how this year is just flying by. The students are starting to get used to having me back but we still are working on our procedures and the expectations of our classroom.
Math - In math we worked on learning different strategies to add and subtract 3 digit numbers by 3 digit numbers. We also focused on learning out x0, x1, x2, x3, x5, x6, x10. I will be sending home a sheet that explains our strategies. Please be helping your child practice their multiplication facts. Also, our website DREAMWORKS is up and running! If you want to help your child with thier math this is the best way! Writing- We finished up learning our editing strategies for Personal Narratives and will be starting to go into learning about Opinion Writing which is new to 3rd grade! Science - The students worked hard on researching for the first time on the computers and ipads. They had to use different resources to present about their natural disaster. You should have been able to see your child's presentation on SeeSaw! We will be going into our unit on Bridges next. Reading - A reminder your students should be reading a chapter book EVERY night for AT LEAST 20 minutes. Please do not let you child forget this it is so important for them. Currently they have been focusing on social studies and learning about different types of commmunities and what makes up a community. This week their focus is on Authors Purpose. Ask your child what are the three reasons an Author writes a book..... Its as easy as PIE! |
