Writing- We are focusing on how to edit our drafts currently in writing and just took an assessment to see what we know. The students must look for capital letters and endmarks, indentation, any missing words or misspelled words. We also set up our own folder on the computers so we can start publishing!!! :) Science- I am so excited because the kids have been working so hard to build background knowledge on what technology is, what an engineer does and their design process that we are almost ready to start expiermenting. Below you will see them using a machine known as a egg beater? We talked about have engineers help us keep evolving our technology to help us make it better! SO FUN! Math- Our first math test is tomorrow! The students have worked hard to find differences, tell time, figure out a pan balance, round numbers, and even start their multiplication. Below you can see us working on our strategies and playing various math games! Reading - You will often notice I do not post a lot of pictures for reading. This is hard because my students are separated between 4 classrooms! I will however let you know what they have been working on. The students main focus last week in reading was working on questioning. They have devoting a lot of time on becoming readers who aren't just reading the words but who are truly thinking and asking questions to help them better comprehend the story. ** Important Reminders **
Coupon Books - These need to be brought back by Wednesday, September 23rd whether they are sold or unsold. Homework Room - If your student does not have time to finish their homework the night before this is a great option for them! The homework room is located in Mr. Ray's room from 7:45- 8:00! Friendship Directory - This was sent home on Friday, September 18th with all of the students. It was on a purple sheet of paper! Keep an eye out for it! This has all the students who gave me their permission to share the phone numbers on there. Birthdays- Just a reminder that we are not allowed to bring birthday invitations to school or treats as much as this makes me sad to share! We will however take time to make the student feel special on their birthday. Below you will see our first mini birthday celebration for Kadyn! Writing- Personal Narratives have been the topic of discussion this week! What is a Personal Narrative? A personal narrative is a story about yourself that has to have a problem and a resolution. Ask you child what their story is that they are writing about. You might help add to their details!
Math- Last week we were focused on estimating and rounding numbers. We explored our Math Journal, Math Tools, and our Student Reference book. We even worked on telling time so practice using an analog clock at home with your child!
