Can you believe it is almost the new year? Next week is Holiday Break and we have lots of fun things planned next week during school. Here are a few of the things to look forward to!
Holiday Dress Up days from student council: Monday December 19th: Wear Holiday Hats and Socks Tuesday December 20th: Wear Red and Green Wednesday December 21st: Wear you ugly sweater or T-shirt Day Thursday December 22nd: Wear your Pajamas! Students may also bring in blankets, pillows, and a stuffed animal for our Polar Express Pajama Party! For our Polar Express Unit we will be doing flashlight reading, your child is allowed to bring a flashlight to school and we will be reading in the dark with our flashlights on Wednesday December 21st. Also, if you happen to have The Polar Express book please send that with your child on Wednesday as well. We will also be having a Polar Express party with trail mix, treats, and Hot Chocolate that we will make when we watch the Movie on Thursday December 22nd. For our Polar Express Party we are in need of some items: · 3 Boxes Golden Grahams Cereal · 3 Bags Mini Marshmallows · 3 Bags Milk Chocolate Chips · 25 Candy Canes · 25 Cups with lids for Hot Chocolate · Crackers · Meat and Cheese · Fruit In previous years we have had students bring meat and cheese trays with crackers or people have brought cheese and meat that can be cut up. Same with the fruit it could be a fruit tray or fruit that needs to be washed and cut up. This is a great way for us to keep our party healthy with a little bit of a treat of the trail mix. Please reply back and let me know if your child is wanting to bring any of these items. This will help letting me know what needs to be purchased before our Polar Express Party on Thursday December 22nd. Dates to Remember: NO SCHOOL: December 23rd- January 2nd School Resumes: Tuesday January 3rd

Ask your child what are the three reasons an Author writes a book..... Its as easy as PIE! Welcome to our classroom website! I have officially been back now for 2 weeks of school! It is strange to think it has only been two weeks!! This year we are going to try something different with technology. I will be posting pictures of our learning on SeeSaw. Each of your students have their individual page which they will use as a portfolio to have throughout elementary school. This website will be used for weekly updates, important reminders, and the essentials such as lunch menus, calendars, websites to help us learn. If you have any questions please feel free to email me! Science - We just finished up our weather presentations and will be moving into learning about Natural Disasters this week! (Urban, Suburban, Rural) Don't forget to make sure your child is reading their 20 minutes every night! Writing- The class has been working on writing personal narratives. We are learning different strategies to help our stories become more interesting. Last week our focus was Tag and Quote. Tag and Quote is how we correctly edit our dialogue when someone talks in a story! Below are some pictures Miss Keller took in the first couple weeks of school! Back to School Night is already this Thursday, August 18th from 4:30- 6:00. I can't wait to meet all of you and for you to see our classroom! Students you are welcome to bring your supplies on Thursday or on the first day! You will all get to meet our long term sub Miss Keller that night as well. I had a baby in July and will be staying home for about a month to spend some time with him! It is going to be hard not to start out the school year but I will see you very soon! Hope to see everyone there!

I am soo excited for the students to experience it! Science - We are helping first grade learn about habitats this week! We are put our knowledge, creativity, research, and speaking skills to the test! Writing- During writing we have been focused on Expository Writing. The students will receive a prompt such as name two gifts you want for your birthday. The students will then need to write two reasons and give 2 supporting details for each sentence. We have been talking a lot about topic sentencing and closing sentences! Reading - In reading we are reading Charlottes Web and doing a packet to help us with our comprehension of the book.
