Wow time flies! As I was just logining into the computer I took a second to look at our class picture from the beginning of the year it seems like it was taken so long ago. Now I look out the window and we are having a mini snow storm! I can't wait for the nice weather to come back so the kids can enjoy some learning outside!! Thank you to all the parents who came and read with their child. I don't know who was more excited for you to come them, or me to see your child's day made by the special time they got to share with you! For those of you who were not able to make it the whole school actually stopped and read for 20 minutes today. Our class did 30. Take a look and see at how we got comfy and cozy to read our books! P.S. I told the students they could count the 30 minutes for tonight reading since they did a good job! IMPORTANT SPELLING INFORMATION!!!
As the year is coming to an end we are making sure your child knows the High Frequency Words for third grade. The HFW are words in which your students should be able to spell correctly based on a sentence, and be able to correctly read in a book. You will notice last week I sent home a spelling tic-tac-toe with your student. Each Wednesday our class will have a pretest to see which words they can spell. I correct the test and give them a list of all the words, and then highlight the words they need to practice. Your child's job is to take the list home on Friday and work on their spelling tic-tac-toe which is to be completed and turned in by Thursday. I need the evidence that they were practicing so if he or she could staple it to the list it would be much appreciated it. If their homework is not turned in by Thursday the words will automatically go onto their next weeks spelling list. When your child turns in their homework I test them that day. Any words they get incorrect wll be put on the next week's list. Please help your child learn to spell the words not just memorize. Help them with a strategy such as breaking the words into syllables and sounding them out, or maybe you have a good little chant or rhyme. Thank you for all you do at home!! :) Let me know if you have any addition questions. Math Update I can't believe it but it is once again time to wrap up another Math Unit. The students will be tested on their Math Test on Tuesday. Take a look at a few of the studnets Fraction Art. The stduents were asked to cut squuares in equal parts to make a picture!
