I hope you enjoyed seeing your child's landforms project come home! The kids had a blast making them, and it was fun to see all of their creativity.
This week we wrapped up our Social Studies Unit with the 3D Salt Dough Map Projects. Prior to this project the students were studying continents. I can't wait to show you their projects at conferences!! Each child got a nonfiction book had to read through it and pull key words. The keywords than had to be turned into sentences and put into paragraphs. Each continent got together with their group and TYPED a PAPER along with made a POWERPOINT!! I am so impressed with their ability to use technology! As teachers we always strive to make the best learning environment for ALL students! Recently I took a class called Schools Alive that stressed the importance of active learning. We have been using pedometers in our classroom to track our steps and brain breaks to take a quick mental break. Ask your students about our GO NOODLE character!! Take a look at a few other things we have been doing........ Active Spelling*Students got to practice their spelling words by designating an action to each letter as they spelt. They had way more fun than I ever had anticipated!! I LOVE to see them learning and having FUN!!! Active Math* Want to practice multiplication facts? Grab a piece of tag board and write the numbers 0-9 on it! Have a deck of cards and be ready to jump out the problem! Once it is nice out grab chalk and make it outside for your student! Also, we played basketball multiplication to learn how to use parentheses to get to 15.
Another fun filled holiday fun with our Minute to Win It games thanks to all the parents who helped make it possible with supplies!!! I love using Minute It to Win It games as it builds so much team work and cooperation among the students. Take a sneak peek:
