Writing- We have wrapped up our personal narratives and are about to step into Opinion Writing. Before we started Opinion writing we took a little time to write about what we were thankful for and a persuasive letter to Santa. Can't wait to share those with you! Reading - Students are reviewing Authors Purpose on why the author writes a book. They are also practicing on how to infer during their reading. and citing their evidence. Math- Unit 3 Test just wrapped up and we are moving on to Unit 4. Students will learn about different types of measurement and geometry! We worked with line plots and measuring to the nearest whole inch and half inch this week! Need help measuring something? Ask your child to help but make sure to check their answer!! :) Science- Students are working hard to finish their Natural Disasters presentation. We have also started our new unit on bridges! Ask your child if they can tell you one fact about the three types of bridges: Beam, Arch, and Suspension! A Visit From The Rotary Club!!! The Rotary Club came to Westside and gave each student a dictionary for them to keep. They told us that some students keep their dictionaries all the way up until College and still use it! The kids are enjoying having them to read, check spelling, and learn interesting new facts! They will be brought home at the end of the year!
P.S. Don't mind the October calendar in the background.... it wasn't in October! Opps! It's the little things we forget to change! At least we had the right calendars in our home folders! |
