We have been up to so much since the last time I posted I am not quite sure where to even begin. WE FINISHED NDSA TESTING!!! (It was a tough one!) Conferences: Thank you so much for coming and listening to me spill my guts for 15 minutes straight. It is so much to cover in such a short amount of time, and I was so glad to finally get a chance to see you other than the back to school night. If you didn't have a chance to ask questions please feel free to email me at anytime! Idiom Project: Attached to the email I sent out on 10/29/13 is our project on Idioms if you didn't see it at conferences. The students had to make their PowerPoint slide with a figurative and literal meaning. They also got to record their voice! Social Studies: Recently we have been learning a lot about communities and being a citizen. At the beginning of our Unit 1 we made class bracelets to show we are a community within our class. It was so fun to be able to have the students be the teachers to the class and to be able to tie a fun project into something educational. This week we put more of our focus on the 3 different types of communities: Rural, Urban, and Suburban. Take a peek at their projects! I loved their creativity! I wish I would have recorded their presentations. The groups thought our their communities so well. From a skateboard park, to a window washer, and sewer checker in an urban community; to the pools in the backyards, schools, and target for Suburban community; not to mention the pig pit, hay bails, corn fields, and barns of the rural community! So much fun! Next Project is Timelines!! I hope you are having fun with your child.... remember they are due on Friday! :) Birthdays- Did I mention I love birthdays? It is the ONE day out of the year that is YOUR day to feel special, and that is exactly what I want for my students!!! You may have noticed if they already have had a birthday that I give the a balloon along with a little something on their desk and a birthday banner on their locker. If you child has a summer birthday we will celebrate on their "half" birthday. What is even more special is they get the birthday chair for the time it takes us to sing a happy birthday tune, and tell them how great they are! Take a look at the birthday's we have had so far! Happy Birthday Anisha, Blaze, Olivia, Cooper, and Fardowso!! Here are a few random pictures of us working on our spelling test, reading, writing, a proper noun project, our idiom computer project, our new colored carpet, our Firemen presentation, and me hanging out with the students at recess one day! Thanks for checking out our website! Next time I won't try to wait so long!
